Roger Moore’s hunting aversion stems from killing sparrow as a child
March 12, 2009 – 2:44 amWashington, Mar 11 (ANI): English actor Sir Roger Moore has revealed that his stand against any form of blood sport, stemmed from a childhood incident, which involved him killing a sparrow.
Moore, 81, has since then been haunted by the incident, which had made him feel like a murderer, making him stand firmly against hunting and shooting.
“I was in a barn with a couple of other boys and we saw a swallow nesting near the rafters. I was very stupid, as boys often are, and in a moment of madness I threw a stone at it, and the bird fell dead to the ground. I felt ghastly, like a murderer,” Contactmusic quoted him as saying.
“The incident has stayed with me all these years and had such a profound effect on me that I am completely opposed to any form of bloodsport and loathe hunting and shooting,” he added. (ANI)
