Common Admission Test 2009 is an entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management as a Computer Based Test, unlike the written test in the previous years. Pro-metric has been entrusted with the task of conducting CAT 2009.

Around 300,000 students are expected to write the online CAT in 2009 The exam will be conducted for a period of 10 days between 28th Nov 2009 & 7th Dec 2009 (including both the days).

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2009 went online for the first time, admission to IIMs on Saturday got off to a troubled start with the servers crashed across all centres in India on Saturday.

The test is being held between Nov 28 and Dec 7 in 32 cities at 105 testing centres connected to a main server. Around 50,000 students appeared for the exam in Delhi.

There have been reports about technical difficulties arising at various CAT 2009 test centres all across India.

The crash occurred soon after the CAT examination began in Chennai,Indore,New Delhi, Kolkata, Bhopal,Lucknow, Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune, affecting a large number of the 240,000 set to appear in the staggered test until Dec 7.

IIMs have also issued a notice to all the students appearing for the exam to refrain from discussing the new format till December 7 when the exam schedule ends.
